Homemade Poha Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 small potatoes cut into cubes

  • 4 medium onions chopped finely

  • 2-3 green chillies chopped finely

  • 2-3 string curry leaves chopped finely

  • 3 cups poha mota ( flatten rice )

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp red chilli powder

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 lemon juice

  • salt to taste

  • some coriander leaves and roasted peanuts for garnishing

Method:

  1. Heat 8-9 tbsp oil in a kadai add mustard seeds when it splutters add the curry leaves, turmeric powder and onions.

  2. Saute the onions for 2-3 minutes then add the chopped potatoes.

  3. Cover and cook till it is soft.

  4. Clean and wash the poha in a sieve under the tap for a few minutes ensuring that the poha does not become very soft.

  5. Let the washed poha dry for 5 minutes.

  6. Add all the remaining spices to the washed poha and mix very gently..

  7. Add the poha to the cooked potatoes.

  8. Mix well, cover and cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes.

  9. Remove in a serving bowl add the lemon juice and garnish with some coriander leaves and roasted peanuts.
