Homemade Italian Stuffed Bread Recipe

Ingredients for Bread Stuffing :

  • 1 small white onion

  • 1/2 of each assorted coloured peppers /capsicums

  • 2 tbsp green olives

  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese

  • 1 tsp chilli flakes

  • 1/2 tbsp basil powder

  • 1/2 tbsp oregano

  • 1/2 tbsp garlic chopped finely

  • 1- 2 green chilies chopped

  • 8-10 jalapeno

  • salt as per taste

Ingredients for Bread:

  • 2 cups white flour (maida)

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 sachet instant yeast or 2 tsp instant yeast

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 2-3 tbsp butter


Method:

  1.  Soak yeast in lukewarm milk with sugar and keep it for 5-10 minutes till it rises or froths.

     2. Take a bowl mix the flour add salt . Make a hollow in the center then pour the yeast mixture and start kneading by adding water as required till you get a very sticky dough. Add the butter and knead it for about 15 mins till a smooth ball is formed. Keep it covered with a plate or cling for 1 hour till it doubles in size.

3. In a bowl mix all the above ingredients for the bread filling excluding the mozzarella cheese and keep it aside.

·       4. After 1 hour remove the bread dough from the bowl and place it on a board. Pat it to remove all the excess air.

   5. With a rolling pin roll the dough till you get a long oval shape. Spread the filling on one end of the dough then sprinkle some cheese and jalapeno over it. Cover the other end over the filling and seal the ends together.

6. Allow it for one hour to rest for second proofing.

7. Brush butter on it lightly and sprinkle some oregano and chilli flakes on it.

8. Bake at 180 C for 30- 40 mins .

·       8. Remove from oven and let it cool for 15-20 mins. Cut into thick slices .

This Home Made Italian Stuffed Bread taste awesome and can be eaten with pasta or even with a cup of tea or coffee.
