Homemade Khara Pongal Recipe
Ingredients :
3/4 cup sona masoori rice or any other white rice
1/4 cup split moong dal
1/4 cup desi ghee
1 tsp jeera ( cumin seed)
1/4 tsp hing (asefodita )
1-2 chopped green chillies
2-3 strings chopped curry leaves
1/2 tbsp chopped ginger
1/2 tbsp whole black pepper
1/4 cup chasewnuts
salt as per taste
Method :
In a pressure cooker wash and soak the rice and dal together in 6 cups water and add salt as required i for about half an hour.
Cook the rice and dal on medium flame upto 5 whistles.
Open the cooker, mix the rice and dal together and add warm water only if required.
In a small pan heat the ghee then fry the cashewnuts remove and keep aside. In the same hot ghee add the jeera when it splutters add the asefodita , whole peppers, curry leaves, chopped chillies and ginger.
Pour the tadka on the pongal.
Serve this yummy pongal with sambar or rasasm
