Homemade Red Spinach Sabzi Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 bunches red spinach ( Laal Saag)

  • 3 big onions finely chopped

  • 2 big tomatoes finely chopped

  • 1/2 tbsp chopped garlic

  • 1 tsp chopped ginger

  • 1 chopped green chilli

  • 1 tsp jeera (cumin ) seeds

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder

  • 1/2 tbsp coriander powder

  • 1/2 tsp garam masala

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • salt as per taste

Method:

  1. Clean the spinach leaves with a little stem on them. Wash and let it dry.

  2. Chop the spinach finely.

  3. In a pan heat 2 tbsp ghee, add the jeera when it splutters add the bay leaf, cinnamon stick, and saute the garlic, ginger then add the turmeric powder, onions and green chilli. Cook till the onions are soft.

  4. Add the tomatoes and cook till soft and mushy.

  5. Add all the dry spices and saute. Then add the chopped spinach and cook till the stem and leaves are soft.

  6. Remove in a serving bowl.

    Serve this yummy sabzi with chapati, paratha or rice
