Course : Snack
Cuisine: Indian
Servings: 5-6 pax
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time : 30 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
Ingredients:
2 cups boiled hara chana (green chana / chickpea)
1 onion chopped finely
2 small tomatoes chopped finely
1 green chilli chopped finely
1 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
1 tsp chaat masala
1 tsp black salt
1/2 tsp roasted jeera powder
salt as per taste
1/2 lemon
some chopped coriander & pudina ( mint) leaves
Method:
Clean, wash and soak the chana in some water overnight or for 6-7 hours. Then drain out the water and keep aside.
Take a pressure cooker with 4 cups water and 1 tbsp salt. To it add the soaked chana. Cook the chana on medium flame for 10 minutes or upto 5-6 whistles. Once the pressure is released open the cooker and remove all the water from it. Do not throw the water but use it for dal, curries or to knead chapati / paratha dough.
Before serving heat a pan and then add the chana with only 2-3 tbsp of the chana water and allow it to cook for 3-4 minutes. Switch off the gas and mix the chopped onions, tomatoes, green chilli, all the dry spices and lemon juice.
Remove in a serving bowl and garnish with some chopped coriander and mint leaves.
Enjoy this no oil and super healthy chana chaat.
