Homemade Drumstick Curry Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 nos drumsticks

  • 2 tbsp dry roasted peanuts without skin

  • 5 tbsp fresh grated coconut

  • 2 onions finely chopped

  • 1 tomato finely chopped

  • 1 tsp chopped ginger

  • 1/2 tbsp chopped garlic

  • 1 chopped green chilli

  • 2-3 string chopped curry leaves

  • a pinch of asefodita

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder

  • 2 tsp chilli powder

  • 1 tsp coriander powder

  • 1/2 tsp jeera (cumin) powder

  • salt as per taste

  • some chopped coriander leaves

Chhayas food drumstick curry - ingredients

Method:

  1. Peel and wash the drumsticks. Chop the drumsticks into 2 inches pieces.

  2. Grind the peanuts and coconut into a fine paste.

  3. Take a pan heat 2 tbsp oil then add the mustard seeds when it splutters add the asafetida, turmeric, curry leaves, ginger, garlic and onions. Cook the onions till it is translucent and soft then add the tomato, Cook till the tomatoes are soft and mushy then dd the peanut and coconut paste and all the remaining spices and cook for about 4-5 minutes, Add the drumsticks and 3-4 cups water. Cover and cook on low flame stirring at intervals till the drumsticks are soft.

  4. Remove from flame and garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve this yummy Drumstick Curry with rice or chapati.
